  2. What These Changes Mean

A comparison of the talent data before and after the hotfix reveals substantial changes, particularly for Paladins and Druids. Several talents have been redesigned, new abilities have been introduced, and existing talents have moved between rows or even specializations.

Below is a breakdown of the changes identified in the game data.

Classes

Paladin

Paladins receive the most extensive overhaul in this hotfix, with 45 talent changes across Holy, Protection and Retribution. The adjustments affect healing mechanics, defensive capabilities and damage-dealing options, while several talents have been moved between specializations.

Holy

Holy Paladins gain two new talents and several significant changes to their healing toolkit.

  • Oath of Light (New): Places an Oath on a friendly target, increasing the healing they receive from your Holy Light, Flash of Light and Holy Shock. Only one Oath can be active at a time.

  • Boundless Light (New, 2 ranks): Increases the critical strike chance of Holy Shock by 15% / 30% when healing allies who are not affected by your Oath of Light.

  • Light's Vigil (Reworked): Now exclusively targets friendly players. Your next Holy Shock on the target has no cooldown and heals both the target and their party. The previous offensive damage and mana-refund effects have been removed. Each Paladin can maintain one Vigil per party.

  • Holy Power (Reworked): Increases the critical healing bonus of Holy spells by 10% / 20% / 30% / 40% / 50%. Previously, it increased spell critical strike chance by 1–5%, with an additional bonus for Holy Shock and Holy Strike.

  • Reverence: Moves from row 3 to row 2 and is reduced from three ranks to two. Mana regeneration while casting is now 15% / 30%, previously 10% / 20% / 30%.

  • Spiritual Focus: Moves from row 2 to row 1 and expands from two ranks to five. Each rank provides 14% additional resistance to casting interruption from damage, up to 70%.

  • Improved Seals: Expands from three ranks to five, increasing Seal and Judgement damage by 3% per rank, up to 15%.

  • Divine Precision: Moves up one row and is reduced from three ranks to two. It now grants 4% / 8% Holy spell hit chance, down from a maximum of 18%, while also reducing Silence duration by 10% / 20%.

  • Voice of Truth: Removed.

Additional talent movements include Divine Favor and Illumination moving to row 3, and Purifying Power moving to row 2. Divine Strength, Infusion of Light and Consecrated Ground change columns.

Holy Conduit moves from Retribution into the Holy tree, occupying row 3.

Protection

Protection receives substantial defensive improvements alongside new mechanics for Holy Strike and Judgement.

  • Shieldsworn (New): Reduces the cooldown of Holy Strike. Holy Strike now attacks with your shield, triggering Holy Shield and Shield Specialization without consuming their charges or cooldowns. It also temporarily enables blocking spells.

  • Stoicism (New, 2 ranks): Reduces the duration of Stun and Charm effects by 10% / 20%.

  • Swift Judgement (Reworked): Becomes a separate Judgement ability that unleashes your active Seal without consuming it. It no longer shares a cooldown with regular Judgement. Previously, the talent reset Judgement's cooldown and reduced the mana cost of the next cast.

  • Sacred Duty: Moves to row 2 and no longer provides Stamina. It continues to reduce the cooldowns of Divine Shield, Divine Protection and Templar's Bulwark by 30 / 60 seconds, and now additionally reduces Forbearance duration by 5 / 10 seconds.

  • Shield Specialization: Reduced from three ranks to two. Shield absorption increases by 15% / 30%, while successful blocks have a 50% / 100% chance to restore mana.

  • Iron Creed: Reduced from five ranks to three. Holy Strike generates 10% / 20% / 30% additional threat. While Righteous Fury is active, Holy Strike also reduces damage taken by 2% / 4% / 6%.

  • Redoubt: Block chance increases to 6% / 12% / 18% / 24% / 30%, up from a maximum of 20%.

  • Improved Righteous Fury: Damage reduction while Righteous Fury is active increases to 3% / 6% / 9%, previously 2% / 4% / 6%.

  • Improved Seal of Fury and One-Handed Weapon Specialization: Removed.

Several defensive talents are also repositioned. Holy Shield moves from row 7 to row 5, while Templar's Bulwark moves from row 5 to row 3. Toughness moves from row 1 to row 3.

Improved Hammer of Justice, Improved Righteous Fury and Anticipation change rows.

Divine Intellect moves from Holy into Protection.

Retribution

Retribution receives changes to critical strike scaling, two-handed weapon damage and Seal interactions.

  • Unsealed Wrath (New): Melee attacks store copies of your active Seal. Attacking with a different Seal consumes the accumulated stacks, giving the stored Seal one activation chance per stack.

  • Turn Evil (New, 2 ranks): Reduces the cast time of Turn Undead by 0.5 / 1.0 seconds and its cooldown by 5 / 10 seconds. The ability can now also affect Demons.

  • Conviction: Reduced from five ranks to three. It now grants 2% / 4% / 6% critical strike chance to all spells and attacks, rather than increasing melee critical strike chance by up to 5%.

  • Champion of the Light: Expands from three ranks to five, retaining its maximum spell damage bonus of 60% of Intellect. It now also reduces Hammer of Wrath's cast time by up to 1 second.

  • Two-Handed Weapon Specialization: Now increases all physical damage dealt by 2% / 4% / 6% while wielding a two-handed weapon, rather than only damage dealt by the weapon itself. It additionally reduces threat generation by 7% / 14% / 20%.

  • Vindication: No longer increases the Paladin's own Attack Power. Its Attack Power reduction against enemies remains.

  • Instrument of Law and Twist of Light: Removed.

Sanctified Judgement moves to row 2, while Two-Handed Weapon Specialization moves to row 4. Conviction, Sacred Arbiter, Vengeance, Repentance and Champion of the Light change columns.

Unyielding Faith moves from Holy into Retribution.

Druid

Druids receive another major talent overhaul, particularly in Feral Combat and Restoration. The changes introduce new abilities, adjust existing healing mechanics and redistribute several talents between specializations.

Balance

Balance receives two targeted improvements:

  • Genesis: The bonus to periodic damage and healing doubles, increasing to 2% / 4% / 6% / 8% / 10%, previously 1% / 2% / 3% / 4% / 5%.

  • Moonkin Form: Its party aura now increases all critical strike chance rather than only spell critical strike chance, extending its benefit to physical damage dealers.

Feral Combat

Feral Combat gains new tools for tanking and finishing attacks, while several existing talents are removed or relocated.

  • Lacerate (New): Applies a stacking bleed effect that generates a high amount of threat, providing an additional threat-generation option.

  • Predatory Discipline (New): Ferocious Bite no longer consumes additional Energy, but still benefits from the extra damage that Energy would provide.

  • Leader of the Pack: Now increases all critical strike chance for party or raid members, rather than only melee and ranged critical strike chance.

  • Berserk and Improved Shifting Power: Removed.

Primal Bite and Shifting Power move from row 4 to row 7, significantly increasing the talent investment required to access them.

Predatory Strikes, Rend and Tear and Natural Reaction change columns.

Furor moves from Restoration into Feral Combat.

Restoration

Restoration receives a new healing talent and changes to existing healing interactions.

  • Bloom (New): When Rejuvenation or Regrowth expires, the affected target receives an additional heal based on the Druid's Spirit. If the effect is dispelled instead, the target still receives a heal, calculated using a different share of Spirit.

  • Swiftmend: Now consumes the Rejuvenation or Regrowth effect used to provide its healing.

  • Naturalist: Now also reduces the cast time of Wild Growth, in addition to Healing Touch. Its damage bonus increases to 2% / 4% / 6% / 8% / 10%, previously 1–5%.

  • Gift of the Earthmother: Removed.

Reflection moves up to row 2, while Subtlety moves down to row 3.

Heart of the Wild moves from Feral Combat into Restoration.

Hunter

Hunters receive two minor adjustments to the Beast Mastery talent tree.

Beast Mastery

  • Pathfinding: Moves from row 2 to row 3, requiring additional talent investment.

  • Improved Revive Pet: Changes its position within the tree.

No talent effect changes were identified for these two talents.

Mage

Mages receive adjustments to Arcane and Frost, including an additional rank for Arcane Resilience and improved Ice Lance range.

Arcane

  • Arcane Resilience: Expands from two ranks to three. The talent now grants Armor equal to 25% / 50% / 75% of Intellect.

Frost

  • Arctic Reach: Now also increases the range of Ice Lance, in addition to its existing effects.

Priest

Holy Priests receive a replacement for Binding Heal, introducing a new self-healing interaction tied to Flash Heal.

Holy

  • Holy Binding (New): Healing another player with Flash Heal also heals the Priest for a portion of the amount restored, without generating threat.

  • Binding Heal: Removed from the talent tree.

  • Renewed Hope: Its description no longer references Binding Heal.

The change replaces a separate healing ability with a passive interaction that rewards healing other players.

Warlock

Warlocks receive a targeted adjustment to the Affliction tree.

Affliction

  • Improved Drains: Now affects Drain Mana instead of Wrack. The talent also increases the amount of mana drained from the target.

What These Changes Mean

The hotfix goes beyond simple numerical tuning. Several changes alter how abilities interact, while the redistribution of talents creates new opportunities and restrictions when building characters.

For Paladins, the most notable changes include the introduction of Oath of Light for targeted healing, Shieldsworn for shield-based combat, and Unsealed Wrath for managing Seal interactions. The relocation of talents between Holy, Protection and Retribution also changes which abilities can be combined in hybrid builds.

For Druids, Lacerate introduces another threat-generation mechanic, while Predatory Discipline changes how Ferocious Bite uses Energy. Restoration gains Bloom but must now account for Swiftmend consuming an existing healing-over-time effect.

The smaller adjustments to Hunters, Mages, Priests and Warlocks are more focused, although Holy Binding represents a meaningful change to the Holy Priest toolkit.

Because these changes are delivered through server-side talent data, they may not be reflected in older talent calculators or locally extracted client data.

All changes listed here were identified by comparing talent data before and after the hotfix. Further adjustments may occur before launch.

Our Talent Calculator has already been updated to reflect all changes introduced by this hotfix, so you can explore the new talent trees and plan your builds right away.
