WoW Forever: Major Class Changes Just Before Launch
With WoW Forever launching today, major class changes bring stronger Shaman and Hunter abilities, new Rogue mechanics, and revised Warrior talents.

With less than 24 hours remaining until the launch of World of Warcraft: Forever, another major round of class changes has appeared in the game data.
Our latest comparison of build 1.60.1.70755 identified 137 changes since the previous import, including substantial damage increases, new abilities, and revised talent mechanics.
Shamans and Hunters receive extensive damage increases, while Rogues gain new abilities that could significantly change their playstyle. Warriors also benefit from several talent improvements.
These changes follow the previously reported final beta adjustments and major Paladin and Druid talent revisions.
Classes
Shaman
Shamans receive some of the largest numerical adjustments in this update. Most offensive spells deal considerably more damage, while several talents have been strengthened.
Elemental damage increases:
Chain Lightning: All four ranks receive substantial damage increases. Rank 4 rises from 116–130 to 482–538 Nature damage. The spell power coefficient also increases to 0.714 across all ranks.
Lightning Bolt: Damage increases across all ten ranks. Rank 10 rises from 185–207 to 334–372 Nature damage.
Earth Shock: All seven ranks deal more damage. Rank 7 increases from 293–309 to 517–545 Nature damage.
Frost Shock: All four ranks receive significant improvements. Rank 4 increases from 275–291 to 492–520 Frost damage.
Flame Shock: Both immediate and periodic damage increase across most ranks. Rank 6 now deals 292 immediate damage and 320 damage over 12 seconds, compared to 166 and 176 previously.
Several talents further strengthen these abilities:
Lightning Overload: Proc chance increases from 3% / 7% / 10% to 10% / 20% / 30%.
Call of Thunder: Critical strike chance bonus increases from 3% to 5%.
Mental Dexterity: Talent values increase from 33% / 67% / 100% to 50% / 100% / 150%.
Flurry: Maximum bonus increases from 25% to 30%.
Stormstrike: Now deals 150% weapon damage instead of normal weapon damage. Its existing 20% damage bonus to the next Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning, or Earth Shock remains.
Restoration also receives an important adjustment. Riptide loses its initial direct heal across all three ranks, retaining its healing-over-time effect and the 25% bonus to Chain Heal cast directly on the affected target.
The direct healing removed from Riptide amounts to 456–504 at rank 1, 581–643 at rank 2, and 799–883 at rank 3.
Finally, all four ranks of Lava Burst have been removed from the imported spell data. Elemental Reach no longer references Lava Burst or the cooldown reduction for Totemic Projection.
Taken together, these changes substantially increase Shaman offensive damage while altering the role of Riptide in Restoration healing.
Hunter
Hunters receive broad improvements to their ranged damage abilities and Attack Power bonuses.
Unlike the more targeted adjustments seen in previous updates, these changes affect nearly every major offensive ability.
Aimed Shot: Bonus damage more than doubles across all six ranks. Rank 6 increases from 166 to 350 additional damage.
Sniper Shot: Bonus damage doubles at every rank, increasing from 160 / 225 / 295 to 320 / 450 / 590.
Arcane Shot: Damage increases across all eight ranks. Rank 8 rises from 217 to 280 Arcane damage.
Serpent Sting: Periodic damage increases across all nine ranks. Rank 9 now deals 675 Nature damage over 15 seconds, up from 555.
Attack Power bonuses also receive significant improvements:
Aspect of the Hawk: Maximum Ranged Attack Power bonus doubles from 55 to 110.
Trueshot Aura: Maximum Ranged Attack Power bonus doubles from 50 to 100, benefiting affected party or raid members.
Two talents receive additional improvements:
Barrage: Damage bonus increases from 3% / 7% / 10% to 5% / 10% / 15%.
Lightning Reflexes: Agility bonus increases from a maximum of 10% to 15%.
These improvements strengthen both individual Hunter damage and the ranged Attack Power support provided to groups.
Rogue
Rogues receive one of the most extensive mechanical updates, including several new abilities and changes to existing talents.
The most notable addition is Death Mark, a new finishing move that stores a portion of damage dealt to its target before releasing the accumulated damage after six seconds.
The amount stored depends on Combo Points:
1 Combo Point: 12%
2 Combo Points: 24%
3 Combo Points: 36%
4 Combo Points: 48%
5 Combo Points: 60%
Damage from Garrote and Rupture is stored at twice the normal rate. The final damage is subject to a cap influenced by Attack Power and Critical Strike chance.
Another new ability, Shank, strikes with the off-hand weapon for 50% weapon damage and generates Energy. The imported data contains versions generating 15 and 25 Energy, both of which cannot miss.
Several new talents interact with these abilities:
Boot Knife: Grants Shank a 100% chance to add two Combo Points.
Flash of Steel: Increases Energy generated by Shank by 15 and reduces its cooldown by 2.5 seconds.
Blood Splatter: Extends Rupture by four seconds and Garrote by six seconds.
Venom: Allows Shank to temporarily improve Poison damage and increases Poison application chance by 30%.
Coup de Grace: Now also increases Death Mark's damage and storage rate by 20%.
Existing talents receive additional adjustments:
Aggression: Maximum damage bonus increases from 6% to 15%.
Lethality: Reduced from five ranks to two while retaining its maximum 20% bonus.
Seal Fate: Reduced from five ranks to three, retaining its maximum 100% effect.
Flawless Execution: Eviscerate Energy cost reduction improves from 10 to 15.
Vigor: Bonuses increase from 2 / 4 to 5 / 10.
Setup: Values decrease from 33% / 67% / 100% to 15% / 30% / 45%.
Ghostly Strike gains an additional interaction: the next Ambush or Garrote used within seven seconds no longer requires Stealth.
Quick Getaway is also redesigned. Instead of increasing damage against low-health targets, it now allows one additional Sapped target and grants 35% movement speed for three seconds after using Sap.
The imported data also lists several removals, including Cutthroat, Improved Distract, Thousand Cuts, and Mutilate Rank 1.
Some Rogue entries appear as both additions and removals, including Coup de Grace and Venom. These may represent replacements or internal spell changes rather than the complete removal of those abilities. Their final talent-tree relationships cannot be established from the spell differences alone.
Warrior
Warriors receive several talent adjustments that reduce required talent points while maintaining or improving their maximum bonuses.
Bloodthrill: Reduced from five ranks to two, retaining its maximum 20% bonus.
Flurry: Reduced from five ranks to three, with its maximum bonus increasing from 25% to 30%.
Improved Tactical Mastery: Reduced from five ranks to three, retaining its maximum value of 15.
Two-Handed Weapon Specialization: Maximum bonus doubles from 3% to 6%.
Two abilities receive more substantial mechanical changes:
Improved Slam: Slam's cooldown reduction increases from three to five seconds. Its existing cast-time and global cooldown reductions remain unchanged.
Improved Whirlwind: No longer reduces the Rage cost of Cleave and Whirlwind. Instead, it reduces Whirlwind's cooldown by two seconds and increases damage against the closest enemy by 30%.
Spearing Strike also receives an adjustment. Its base weapon damage increases from 40% to 75%, while its additional damage against Giants, Dragonkin, and mounted targets changes from 80% to 75%.
A new talent, Reckless Swings, has also appeared in the data. It causes the next several melee attacks to generate five additional Rage over an eight-second duration. The exact number of affected attacks is not specified in the available tooltip.
Priest
All six ranks of Binding Heal have been removed from the imported spell data.
No additional Priest adjustments were identified in this comparison.
Warlock
Warlocks receive two targeted improvements:
Shadow and Flame: Two of its four scaling effects now reach 20% instead of 10%, while the other two remain unchanged.
Wrack: Rank 1 gains additional damage scaling per level, and its spell power coefficient doubles from 0.143 to 0.286.
These changes improve the scaling of existing Warlock abilities without introducing new mechanics.
What This Means for Launch
The latest adjustments continue the extensive class balancing taking place ahead of WoW Forever's release.
Hunters benefit from stronger ranged abilities and group Attack Power bonuses, while Shamans receive particularly large increases to their offensive spell damage. The removal of Riptide's initial heal also represents a significant adjustment for Restoration players.
Rogues see more fundamental changes to their toolkit, especially through Death Mark, Shank, and new interactions with Bleed effects, Energy generation, and Stealth abilities.
Warriors benefit from more efficient talent investment and revised combat abilities, potentially opening additional options for their builds.
With launch less than a day away, players planning their talent builds should account for these latest changes.
All changes described here come from comparisons of imported game data rather than published patch notes. Some internal spell changes, particularly the Rogue additions and removals, require further verification before their exact in-game behavior can be confirmed.
